Read this if you’re worried about battery usage The basic gist of the battery problem is that the lock has two modes of motorized operation: low energy and high energy (this is clearly described in the manual).

Stock up on Batteries I loved this lock when I first got it. I was able to leave my keys and truly go keyless. This lock easily paired with my home automation system and just in time. My son was visiting me but was not able to get in my home while I was at work. I was able to unlock the door for him from many miles away. My condominium neighbors were inspired to get this lock as well. But we all quickly changed our minds about the excitement of keyless entry after a few weeks of use. This lock drains batteries like nobody’s business. Since February 2015, I used over 80 batteries (4AA at one time). I spent over $100 this year alone trying to find the right premium alkaline batteries as suggested by the manufacturer. The batteries last anywhere from 7 – 20 days maximum. I must carry my keys with me at all times because I never know when the battery is going to be dead and I won’t be able to enter my home. I recently purchased alkaline rechargeable batteries. This won’t solve the battery drainage…

What Locksmiths Use on Their Home Doors This lock was recommended by my friend who is a locksmith and it’s the exact model he uses on his family home. It has the highest residential security rating by Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) and ANSI (American National Standards Institute). The locksmith who installed it said this type of deadbolt is mostly used by businesses, but that it’s an excellent lock.I am happy with how quick installation (by a locksmith in 30 minutes) was for lock and how easy it was to program both the user codes and other settings. I programmed it myself after the locksmith installed it.Make sure that the deadbolt and strike plate lines up and that the deadbolt easily moves from a locked to unlocked position or you’ll probably run through the batteries at an accelerated rate. Programming was very easy to do just by reading the directions in the user manual.
